Competitive yacht racer Tristan Campbell has spent his life in and around New Zealand's waterways, and the majority of his career in the marine industry. As National Sales Manager of Kiwi Yachting, he’s built a reputation of reliability and thorough knowledge of marine hardware.

Tristan has an extensive network of marine trade contacts, and strives to connect boat owners with them through BoatSmart HQ. Alongside holding national sailing titles, Tristan has gained a high level of expertise in sailing vessel management and all types of power craft.

Living right on the doorstep of Tutukaka Marina, Tristan is the Boatsmart HQ First Mate you can depend on in the Northland region.

Kerikeri Marina

Kerikeri Cruising Club and Marina offers a wide range of facilities including a 193-berth marina. The marina hosts keelboat racing all year round, and the clubhouse and bar can be hired for weddings and other private events.

Marsden Cove

A world-class 240-berth marina in Whangarei, Marsden Cove offers a variety of berth sizes from 10.5m - 44m, plus one catamaran pier for boats up to 25m. The marina provides a full range of services, with extensive facilities.

Opua Marina

This is one of New Zealand’s top haul-out and wash-down facilities, with 250 berths ranging in sizes from 10.5m - 50m. There are 35 swing moorings and 14 pile moorings available outside the marina for long or short-term rental.

Tutukaka Marina

Located just 30km north of Whangarei, Tutukaka has a small marina with occasional berthing available up to 22m LOA. The marina is a dive boat hub, and offers a variety of lively restaurants and stores within the premises.

Whangarei Marina

This unique marina is right in the centre of Whangarei, alongside four major haul-out facilities and a well-established boat service industry. Whangarei is a great base to cruise around or simply park up for a while.

Whangaroa Harbour Marina

The most northerly marina in NZ, Whangaroa Harbour Marina is the closest to famous game fishing grounds. The harbour has deep water bays and volcanic cliffs, offering safe anchorages under most weather conditions.

With over 15 years’ experience in the Marine Industry, Hugo started his career as a single-handed sailing coach down at Murrays Bay Sailing Club. Following his passion for boating, he completed his Boat Building and Marine Systems engineering apprenticeships in New Zealand before heading overseas on Super Yachts. He worked his way up to Chief Engineer on vessels over 50mtrs and is still a standby engineer on some of the local yachts here in New Zealand.

Hugo is now settled down after a life on the water up on the Whangaparaoa Coast and if not found at the local Marinas in the Rodney area, you’ll see him out fishing on his own boat or catching a wave at the local surf breaks.

Gulf Harbour Marina

Gulf Harbour Marina is the gateway to the boating and cruising Hauraki Gulf environment. This world-class marina and marine service centre is one of the most popular in NZ, named clean marina and Marina of the Year in 2020.

Sandspit Marina

Completed in July 2016, Sandspit is an exclusive marina nestled in the Matakana River. Serving members of the local yach club and guests, this marina has 134 berths sized 12-18 metres, available for rent.

Boat expert, and local First Mate, Andrew brings key skills to the table when it comes to looking after your boat. He comes from a long line of boaters, dating back to the early 1900s. Not only does he know how to take care of vessels of all shapes and sizes, Andrew is able to provide insight on how to have a great boating experience.

Andrew ensures to make himself easily available to help out with any assistance required on board. Andrew’s services extend across a handful of marina locations across the East Auckland region.

Bucklands Beach / Half Moon Bay Marina

Half Moon Bay Marina offers a combination of gorgeous islands, white sandy beaches, secret coves and safe harbours. Bucklands Beach sits snug inbetween Half Moon Bay Marina and Musick Point Reserve.

Pine Harbour Marina

Also known as a real boaties’ paradise - Pine Harbour Marina offers you all of the services, supplies and professional support you could need. It’s handily positioned at the entrance to the unforgettable Hauraki Gulf.

Tamaki Marine Park

Nestling on the peaceful Tamaki Estuary, Tamaki Marine Park is suitable for big boats owners who want easy access to the Hauraki Gulf. This marina has on-site bathrooms and offers berths of up to 30 metres in length.

Kennedy Point Marina

Located in the centre of the stunning Hauraki Gulf on Waiheke Island, only 40 minutes from Auckland, Kennedy Point Marina will provide safe, modern and serviced berthage for approximately 180 boats, as well as facilities for visiting boats.

Yachtmaster Dominic Ryan-Kidd is the BoatSmart HQ First Mate for Westhaven and Orakei, as well as Bayswater, Milford and Hobsonville Marinas in Auckland. Dominic has a wide-ranging background in sailing, IT and farming.

After competing in the Whitbread Round the World Race and the Round Ireland race, Dominic worked as a sailing instructor and engineer, where he gained his Yachtmaster’s qualification.

Dominic has spent the last 25 years managing teams building analytic data models for large corporations, and is now re-indulging in his passion for boating.

Orakei Marina

Auckland's newest marina accommodating mainly larger vessels, Orakei Marina is located next to Royal Akarana Yacht Club, and opposite the entrance to Auckland Harbour, providing access to the Hauraki Gulf and Gulf islands.

Westhaven Marina

Nestled at the base of Auckland’s Harbour Bridge, and beside NZ’s largest maritime business hub, Westhaven Marina provides all-weather protection and sheltered secure moorings to over 1,800 boats from 8m - 30m.

Bayswater Marina

One of Auckland’s newest marinas, Bayswater Marina is a prime spot to moor your boat. With gated access and tight security, you can relax knowing that your boat is safe. This marina has 419 full-length finger berths.

Hobsonville Marina

Hobsonville Marina is one of NZ’s largest marinas, located just minutes from State Highway 16. Neighboured by a comprehensive marine service centre, this marina provides berthage for vessels up to 30 metres.

Milford Marina

Nestled on Auckland's North Shore on the northern side of Lake Pupuke, Milford Marina is modern, fully equipped, and in a great location, offering a wide range of facilities and berth sizes.

Aaron Beattie has over 30 years experience in all aspects of boat building, making him the ideal First Mate to look after your vessel. After completing his Boat Building apprenticeship with Terry Bailey Boat Builders, Aaron moved on to McMullen and Wing Boat Builders, where he worked on superyachts. He was even involved with the famous black boats that brought the Americas Cup to New Zealand for the first time.
Aaron has since formed his own company, Lifestyle Yachts where he’s built ten vessels for renowned boat designers. Lifestyle Yachts also carries out repairs, maintenance, alterations and insurance work - so you could say Aaron is an all-round boat guru!

Aaron looks after BoatSmart HQ clients in a variety of locations in the Coromandel area including the Whitianga and Pauanui waterways.

Tairua Marina

This lovely marina is close to the harbour entrance and protected from ocean swells, bordered by a wealth of islands with safe anchorages and bays. Tairua marina has 95 berths ranging from 8 to 25 metres in length.

Whitianga Marina

You’ll find this gorgreous marina in the heart of town, just a short walk from the local amneties. The marina has 191 berths ranging in size from ten to 18 metres, and has a travel lift and hard stand facilities for public use.

Whangamata Marina

Securely nestled inside Whangamata harbour, this marina provides easy access to offshore game and recreational fishing. Sheltered by solid rock breakwaters, the marina’s 209 berths range from 10.5 metres to 20 metres in length.

Pauanui Waterways

A unique waterfront development situated within the Tairua-Pauanui Harbour. Featuring the very best in waterfront living, Pauanui Waterways allows property owners to berth their boat just metres from their own front door.

Former British Army major Clive Poultney is the director of Vessel Management Tauranga Ltd, and brings a wealth of experience to this role. After spending 25 years in the Royal Engineers, Clive and his family moved to New Zealand.

Clive has gained Marine Diesel Engine Maintenance and Boatmaster qualifications, giving him the skills and knowledge to come in handy as Tauranga’s local First Mate. In his spare time, he enjoys crewing a yacht, sailing, ocean fishing, freshwater fishing, kayaking and takes every opportunity to be outdoors.

Tauranga Bridge Marina

This 500-berth Marina is located inside the Tauranga harbour. Tauranga is renowned as one of NZ’s best aquatic recreation centres. Tauranga Bridge Marina won clean marina, and 2019 Best Environmental Performer Award.

Sulphur Point Marina

Sulphur Point Marina is home to 561-berth, and recently underwent a $2 million redevelopment. The upgrade work included the installation of a floating marina, a new pier to welcome boats in the marina up to 24m, and a fuel pontoon.

Passionate fisherman and diver Dion Brown has a wide range of career experience, including operations and general management. He has enjoyed over 40 years on the sea; extensively explored the Marlborough Sounds; Hauraki Gulf along to the North Cape; and sailed the Ionian Sea and English Channel.

His passion for the Marlborough region is deep seated and his roots in the Queen Charlotte Sounds go right back to the 1960s. Based in Marlborough, Dion is our BoatSmart HQ First Mate for the Picton, Waikawa and Havelock Marinas.

Havelock Marina

This encapsulating natural environment boasts the Pelorus Sound and the Kenepuru, and further out you can explore offshore islands. Havelock Marina provieds experiences of tranquility, great fishing and real people.

Picton Marina

Situated at the heart of Picton township, deep within the Queen Charlotte Sound cruising grounds, Picton Marina accommodates a wide range of vessels with permanent and visitor berths for craft from eight to over 35 metres.

Waikawa Marina

Waikawa Marina is one of the biggest and most popular marinas across New Zealand. At the gateway to Queen Charlotte Sound and just five minutes drive from Picton, this modern marina is a prime location for sailing adventures.

Class 3 Marine Engineer Tav Kaipeti has over 20 years experience in all aspects of the marine industry, making him an ideal First Mate to look after your boat.

Upon completing his engineering study at the Australian Maritime College, Tav started his career as an Engineers’ Sailor in the Tuvalu Maritime Police Service, where he worked his way up to Second Engineer.

Tav came to New Zealand and completed his study for Marine Engineer class 3 in 2016. He then served as Chief Engineer on government vessels, doing preventative maintenance and setting tasks for junior engineers.
Tav is our BoatSmart HQ First Mate for the Te Ana Lyttelton and Queenstown marinas.

Te Ana Lyttleton Marina

Located in Lyttelton’s inner harbour, Te Ana Lyttelton Marina offers protection from major weather events and provides dazzling views. It’s Canterbury’s only walk-on marina, with over 170 floating berths with lengths of 10m - 36m.

Queenstown Marina

Located on the shores of the lake, Queenstown Marina offers a full range of services to meet all your needs, including berths ranging from 8m up to 18m. Access to a private VIP facility is also available by membership.
